To install python, the easy way

Post  Admin on Fri Jul 16, 2010 10:05 am

By default, ubuntu installs the latest version of python which is 3.12

Inorder to install python on ubuntu. At the top pannel click on "System" then "Administration" and finally click on "sympatic package manager". (you can see the eg:screenshot here )http://www.thespinningdonut.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/ubuntu-synaptic-package-manager.jpg

Once the Sypatic Package manager is open , under "quick search" text box you need to type the word "python" and then click search. The search result will list out all the possible packages assosciated with Python. Just select package which says "Python" and the click "Apply". Thats it, next step will guide you to install python.(ofcourse you need internet connection to do this).
Once Python is installed , open the terminal and type the following
$python -V
to get the python version.
Rest is up to you , create a sample python program and try to execute it .
Hope this helps you out.
