Related to Apache

Post  Manjula Gandhi on Sun Sep 12, 2010 10:27 pm

In apache,
1. What should be given in ServerAdmin ( in configuration file)
2. Should ServerAdmin and contents in /etc/hosts file be related.
3. when apache2ctl configtest is given, Iam getting an error message as "httpd2:could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 0.0.0.0 for server name, Syntax OK

In addition to the above Iam also getting the following error
apr_sockaddr_info_get() failed for digitalairlines when apache2ctl configtest is given.

1. What should be given in ServerAdmin ( in configuration file)
Ans: Email address that the server includes in error messages sent to the client (if anything goes wrong with your apache server and local system email will be sent to the email address specified in "ServerAdmin" field)
eg: ServerAdmin webmaster@foo.example.com

2. Should ServerAdmin and contents in /etc/hosts file be related
Ans: Not at all, there is no relation in specifing ServerAdmin and /etc/hosts
The only directive with is related with /etc/hosts file is ServerName

3. when apache2ctl configtest is given, Iam getting an error message as "httpd2:could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 0.0.0.0 for server name, Syntax OK
Ans: Mostly the problem lies on /etc/hosts file. The Ipaddress and the full qualified domain name wouldnt have matched. Make sure you have the correct entry in /etc/hosts
